The short version

SmileCosts is a content website. You can read everything without an account. We collect as little as possible: standard server logs, privacy-respecting aggregate analytics, and — where ads are shown — the cookie-based data our advertising partners use, which you can control.

What we collect

• Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps for security and reliability. Logs are retained only as long as operationally necessary.
• Analytics. We use aggregate analytics to understand which guides are read. This data does not identify you personally.
• Email. If you email us, we keep the correspondence to answer you. We do not add you to any list without your explicit consent.

Advertising & cookies

Where display ads are shown, third-party ad networks (such as Google AdSense) may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads depending on your settings. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info. Where required by law, we show a consent banner before any advertising cookies are set.

What we never do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not require accounts or collect health information about you.
• Our cost calculators run entirely in your browser — inputs are not transmitted to us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Since we hold almost none, the fastest path is to email hello@smilecosts.com — we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the effective date above.
