National 2026 bands × BEA price parities (2024)
Every U.S. state and DC, for four kinds of implant treatment. Each figure is our national price
band adjusted by the federal measure of that state's price level — the band a fair written
quote should land in, not a quote.
Read this before the table. The gap between the most and least expensive state
is about 17%. The gap between two practices in your own city is routinely larger
than that. State averages are the smallest variable in what you will actually pay — use this
to sanity-check a quote, not to choose where to be treated.

How these numbers are built
Start with our national band for the treatment — for fixed full-arch implants that is
$24,000–$50,000 for both arches, derived from fee and claims data as set out in our
methodology. Then apply a state index built from the U.S. Bureau
of Economic Analysis
Regional Price Parities
(2024 vintage, U.S. = 100), weighted 60% to the "other services" component that a
dental fee belongs to and 40% to all items, which carries the practice's rent and wage
overhead. The "type of area" control adds a practice-setting adjustment on top — that one is
our own editorial estimate, not a federal statistic, and it exists because treating rural
Montana and downtown Seattle as one market would be the most misleading thing this page
could do.
What this table cannot tell you
It is not a survey of dentists in your state. No such public dataset
exists at state level. This is a national band, adjusted honestly, and labelled as that.
It ignores practice type, which matters more. A high-volume implant
centre in New Jersey will often beat a boutique practice in Kansas. Volume, specialisation
and lab choice move a full-arch price further than geography does.
It cannot see your jaw. Bone loss, grafting and the number of teeth still
to be extracted swing a full-mouth case by five figures. Only an exam with 3D imaging
settles that.
Next steps
Estimate your own case with the
full-mouth implant estimator, which
applies your state's index and lets you test a quote you have already received. For
single-tooth pricing see the dental implant cost guide,
and for the cheapest supervised route in any state, our
dental school clinic directory lists programmes that treat
implant cases at 30–50% below private fees.
Frequently asked questions
Which state has the cheapest dental implants?
By price level, the least expensive states are North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas — each roughly 10% below the national average. But the gap between the most and least expensive state is only about 17%, while quotes from two practices in the same city routinely differ by 30% or more. Shopping locally saves more than relocating.
Why are dental implants more expensive in some states?
Dental fees track local costs: commercial rent, staff wages, and what the local market will bear. We measure that with the federal Regional Price Parities index, which is exactly what it was built to capture. What the index does not capture is practice type — a high-volume implant centre in an expensive state can easily undercut a boutique practice in a cheap one.
Is it worth travelling to another state for dental implants?
Rarely, within the U.S. A 5–8% state price difference on a $35,000 case is $1,800–$2,800, which is usually less than you can save by getting three local quotes or paying cash for a discount — and travel means your follow-up care is hundreds of miles away. Cross-border treatment in Mexico is a different calculation entirely, because the discount is 50–70% rather than 5%.
How accurate are these state figures?
They are national treatment bands adjusted by a federal price index — a planning range, not a survey of dentists in your state. Treat them as the band a fair written quote should land in. The only exact number comes from an in-person exam, and the only useful comparison comes from three quotes on the same written checklist.
About these numbers: Estimates are 2026 planning ranges, not quotes,
dental advice, or a guarantee of price. State adjustments derive from published federal price
indices, not from surveying dentists in each state. Only a licensed dentist who has examined you
can say what your treatment will cost.
